& just like that we’re in 2018 *We Thank God*
Happy New Year friends!
As mentioned in my previous post- it’s very important to reflect and prepare for the New Year.
Some of us set personal goals and never stick to them. If that’s you, don’t worry I’m totally guilty of that too. So that’s why I’ve decided to go public with my New Year’s resolution list. This is the year we will all stick to it in Jesus name. Can I get AMEN?
I'm going to assume that you all screamed *Amennnn* :)
Anyways, here are my resolutions for 2018.
WEIGHT
*Sigh* Pretty sure this is on everyone’s list. Whether it’s losing or gaining weight, most of us want to make changes to our body. I seriously want to kick myself because I was doing so well at the beginning of the previous year but then I just gave up. The most important thing is that I know I can do it. I obviously gained some of the weight back and that could’ve taken a toll on my newly built confidence but it didn’t. This was a positive because I used to tell myself “when I lose weight I’ll be confident”. Pssh as if confidence comes just like that. So although I gave up on my diet and exercise, I didn’t give up on my journey of learning to love my body. My goal this year is to lose 30lbs or more and maintain it. If you have any advice to share then please send me a message!
BLOGGING
I started blogging in June 2017 and only published 8 posts in total that year. I don’t think that’s terrible seeing as I call myself a part-time blogger but I do still feel that I could’ve blogged more.
I’ve been told to take up vlogging numerous times and I seriously do believe that I’d be great at it. So maybe that’s something I can look into in the future. For now, my goal for 2018 is to publish at least 1 blog post every fortnight.
MEMORIES/RELATIONSHIPS
My goal for this year is to create many more memories and capture them. That means travelling more, socialising more and stepping out of my comfort zone.
Last year I visited Amsterdam, Gran Canaria, Jamaica and Portugal. I wish to do more mini weekends away this year along with one big holiday.
Staying within your comfort zone is no fun. I have a friend that is always willing to try new things but I’m always saying “No, I can’t do that”. This year I’ll be trying loads of new things by unlocking my comfortable box. It's time for me to add some more spice to my life.
Sky dive anyone?
FINANCES
My goal for 2018 is to be more responsible with money.
They say things happen for a reason and they’re right. Finishing my internship, getting a temp job and having them not pay me for the hours I worked has really been a test of faith. I’ll be doing a post about this very soon and I’ll probably mention the company if the matter isn’t sorted. It really grinds my gears that big companies feel as if they can step on the little guys.
This situation really broke me but I’ve got to give thanks to my amazing Mum for supporting me not only financially but mentally. Also, thank you to Amanda, Lulu and Nurat for your continuous words of encouragement and allowing me to just cry and rant about it all.
Not only has this situation taught me to save money for rainy days but also to stop lending money out when people come crying. It really shouldn’t be that difficult for me to say the word ‘no’. I’m never one to hassle people for MY money back as I believe people should just keep to their word. Either way, to those that owe me money I don’t even want it back anymore. I guess they can keep it and keep their friendship!
GOD
My last and most important goal for this year is building a better relationship with GOD. I was brought up as a seventh-day Adventist but as I got older I drifted to another denomination of Christianity. Over the years I’ve tried out various churches but didn’t feel like they were for me. I currently attend a Pentecostal church in Woolwich which I guess can be considered as a first step. I do know that I need to listen and speak to God more along with removing any doubts that cross my mind. Building a better relationship is definitely a slow process but I know I can do it.
What are your 2018 New Year's resolutions?
Thanks in advance for sharing them!
Lots of love,
Joy x
